A partnership between Shell and the Brazilian ethanol producer Cosan is looking at a takeover bid for the local sugar producer of the major international agricultural trader Louis Dreyfus. People close to the sources reported it.
The joint company of the oil and gas group and Cosan is called Raízen and is active in sugar and ethanol production. According to sources, Raízen intends to take over Louis Dreyfus’s Sugar part Biosev in exchange for a minority stake in the company. It would be the biggest takeover for Raizen ever. The deal would also help Biosev solve his debt problems.
