World, As Seen from the most beautiful islands: Ireland and Cyprus

Qatar Airways increases its IAG share

Q

Qatar Airways increases its interest share in the British aviation group IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, among others. The interest goes from 21.4 to 25.1 percent. According to Qatar Airways, the investment has been very successful so far and the company’s strategy is supported.

The increase in importance should underline this support, according to a statement from Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker. Based on the closing price of IAG on Tuesday, this expansion would amount to £ 465 million. Qatar Airways took a 10 percent stake in IAG in 2015 and it has gradually expanded. Qatar Airways also has interests in China Southern and Cathay Pacific, among others.
