Just in time for the start of the summer season, Cyprus gets a new flying ambassador. Larnaca, the most important region of Cyprus for TUI holidaymakers from all over the world, is the eponym for the new Boeing 737-8 from TUI fly. In Cyprus, the plane with the flight number X3 4564 was greeted today (10.04.2022) by the airport fire brigade with water fountains and then christened by the island’s parliament speaker, Annita Demetriou, to the name Larnaca.
About 50 guests, including the Minister of Transport Yiannis Karousos and the Vice-Mayor of the city of Larnaca, Iasonas Iasonides, attended the christening ceremony.
“It is a great pleasure for me that I was chosen as godmother to give the baptismal blessing to the TUI Boeing 737-8, which is named after our city of Larnaca. TUI has been present in Cyprus for many years, and the company’s long-standing relations with our country are not only vital for the tourism sector, but also contribute to maintaining the island’s competitiveness in international markets. I would like to congratulate TUI on its activities and work in Cyprus and thank her again for proposing me as a hostess for today’s christening ceremony, “ said Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Representatives in Cyprus.
