Nearly 200 injured in Catalonia riots

N

Almost two hundred people were injured in Catalonia on Friday evening and night during confrontations with the police. The authorities announced this on Saturday. Radical separatists bombarded the police with stones and fireworks. The police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

152 people were injured in the Catalan capital of Barcelona. In the rest of Catalonia, dozens of people were injured, bringing the total to 182 people.

Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to protest against the sentencing of nine separatist leaders of Catalonia to prison. They tried in vain to separate themselves from Spain in 2017. It is the fifth day in a row that people in Barcelona are protesting against the Supreme Court ruling. According to the emergency services, a total of five hundred people have been injured since the unrest broke out.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, 83 people were arrested in the night from Friday to Saturday. The police already picked up 128 demonstrators before Friday.
