The British oil and gas giant BP welcomes Murray Auchincloss as his new financial director. On July 1, he took over from Brian Gilvary, who said goodbye to BP after a 34-year career. At the end of last year it was speculated whether Gilvary would be the possible successor to the divorcing CEO Bob Dudley.
Auchincloss has been the financial director of the Upstream branch since 2015, which includes the extraction of oil and gas. According to Commissioner Helge Lund, Auchincloss has sufficient financial and commercial experience and a thorough understanding of BP.
Gilvary has been BP’s most important financial director since 2012. He was involved in the aftermath of the disaster with the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
