Against the founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, a secret charge has long been filed in the United States. The Washington Post reports this with reference to accidentally disclosed court documents that are not directly related to the founder of the whistleblowers’ website. Details of the charge were not disclosed.
Assange has been in the embassy of Ecuador in London for more than six years. He had fled to escape extradition to Sweden and possibly from there to the United States. Recently, considerable tensions have arisen between Ecuador and the 47-year-old Assange.
The US holds Australian-based Assange responsible for exposing US documents from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq on the Wikileaks platform. During the US presidential election campaign in 2016, Wikileaks published stolen e-mails from the Democratic Party by hackers. They were damaging to Hillary Clinton, who later lost the election to Donald Trump.
