Irish mobility company MOBY has announced today that it is taking over all customers, vehicles, and contracts of the bankrupt Mechs, effective immediately. Mechs, which rented out e-bikes and electric scooters, emerged earlier from the revival of GreenMo.
With the acquisition, maintenance of electric vehicles for businesses like the Domino’s pizza chain and the police can continue, curator Marc Udink tells ANP. Thanks to the restart, around fifty of Mechs’ approximately one hundred employees will also keep their jobs. Last Friday, Mechs announced its bankruptcy.
Mechs is the company that was supposed to take on the rental and maintenance of delivery vehicles through the revival of GreenMo. Despite efforts to professionalize, the company couldn’t get its affairs in order. Revenues were significantly lower than anticipated.
GreenMo, which called itself a market leader in electric vehicle rentals, went under earlier this year. The company, founded in 2013, was mainly known for providing electric bicycles for Thuisbezorgd couriers (a food delivery service). Thuisbezorgd is no longer a customer, according to curator Udink.
“We collaborate with a combination of partners to always provide the best service to our customers. This is exactly what Mechs’ customers need.” — Bart van Raak, Commercial Director of MOBY
Originating from Ireland, MOBY has been active in the Netherlands for a while. The company rents out and maintains delivery vehicles such as e-bikes, e-scooters, electric cargo bikes, and four-wheelers. According to MOBY, they do this differently from GreenMo and Mechs: they collaborate with independent local maintenance partners and vehicle suppliers.
Bart van Raak, Commercial Director, stated, “Ensuring continuity in our service is our top priority. We collaborate with a combination of partners to always provide the best service to our customers. This is exactly what Mechs’ customers need, and helping them is our utmost priority. We are ready to welcome them with open arms.”
MOBY will personally contact customers within two weeks to schedule maintenance services and discuss further collaboration. If customers require urgent maintenance, they can contact MOBY for assistance.
