Ikea: End of 1 euro breakfast tradition

I

Ikea has stopped the famous breakfast for 1 euro. Since this week the restaurant in the store offers two different morning meals.

Ikea visitors can now choose from coffee and a croissant for € 1.50, a more extensive breakfast for € 3.45 or – only on Sundays – a brunch for € 4.50. Anyone who has a Family pass from the Swedish chain pays considerably less: 60 cents, € 1.20 or € 2.95 respectively.

For many people, the Ikea breakfast for 1 euro was a concept, and a way to start cheaply. The store denies that it is now “putting people out in the cold”.

“The quality of the ingredients is better, and that justifies a slight price increase.”

Ikea says it has 5% of its turnover from the restaurants.
