Inflation in Germany rose to 1.6 percent in February, from 1.4 percent a month earlier. This was reported by the German Federal Statistical Office on the basis of preliminary figures.
Economists had averaged an inflation rate of 1.5 percent. On the basis of the European harmonized measurement method, German inflation remained stable at 1.7 percent. This figure corresponds to the consensus of economists.
On a monthly basis, German consumer prices rose by 0.5 percent last month, after a 0.8 percent drop in January. Here, experts predicted an increase of 0.4 percent in average.
