French consumer confidence fell slightly

Consumer confidence in France fell slightly in March. The French statistics office reported this. It should be noted, however, that the investigation was largely conducted before major measures were announced to curb the corona pandemic.

The index measuring confidence dropped from 104 in February to 103. Economists had expected a much stronger decline. The survey was conducted between February 2 and March 17. On March 16, the French government announced quarantine measures for the population to combat the virus outbreak.

A survey on French business confidence published on Thursday showed the strongest decline ever for March.
