Sales of new business cars in the European Union fell considerably in January. Sales fell by 11.5 percent to 153,114 vehicles compared to a year earlier, according to the ACEA car trade association. The impact of lower sales of delivery vans, which account for more than 80 percent of total demand, had a depressing effect in particular, ACEA says.
Sales of trucks also clearly declined, although buses showed an increase. Sales of commercial vehicles declined in all four major EU car countries, particularly in Spain. In the Netherlands, the sales of company cars fell by 21 percent in January to 8,900 units compared to a year earlier.
