De Mol takes Facebook to court

D

Talpa founder John de Mol starts a lawsuit against Facebook. He demands that Facebook put a stop to misleading consumers through fake ads for bitcoin products, in which his name and photo are used. He also wants from Facebook the details of the sender of the advertisements.

“I am shocked that people are losing their hard-earned money to this scam. My name and image, and those of other famous Dutch people, are being misused to fool ignorant consumers. Everyone understands that we think that is terrible, “says De Mol. “I gave the company a chance to start the conversation and take action, but I ran into a wall of unwillingness.” That’s why he takes the case to court.

The case must be submitted to the court in Amsterdam on 5 June.
