Christmas meals are 10 percent more expensive: Cyprus Consumer Association

C

According to the head of the consumer association Marios Droushiotis, the cost of a Christmas meal was about 10% higher than last year. Although meat prices rose by 20 to 25%, to some extent this was offset by the low prices of vegetables and fruits, which have fallen.

“We bought a cucumber for 60 to 80 cents, while a greenhouse cucumber cost less than 50 cents. This has never happened before. Tomatoes were almost half cheaper than in previous holiday periods.”
