The catholic church leaders in the Holy Land, the new apostolic nuncio to Israel, Jerusalem & Palestine, and Cyprus, archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana (74), to meet him. They visited the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre together. The Philippine diplomat succeeds Leopoldo Girelli, who was appointed Papal Nuncio to India in March.

Mgr. Two weeks ago, Yllana presented his credentials to Israeli president Yitzhak Herzog. Adolfo Yllana was born on February 6, 1948 in Naga City. He was ordained a priest on 19 March 1972. Previously, he was nuncio in Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, DR Congo (2010-2015) and Australia (2015-2021). On June 3, 2021, he was appointed apostolic nuncio to Israel and Cyprus and apostolic delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine.
Mgr. Yllana made the world news in October last year, when it became clear that he had been infected with the coronavirus and had met Pope Francis just before. Fortunately, it soon became clear that the pope himself was not infected.
