Northern Ireland has temporarily stopped the service allowing citizens who have been vaccinated to apply for a digital vaccination certificate due to a data breach. Users of the COVID Certification Service were shown data from other users in certain cases.
Citizens in Northern Ireland can use the COVIDCertNI app to generate a qr code to prove they have been vaccinated. This requires applying for a COVID certificate through the COVID Certification Service. For as yet unknown reason, some users were shown the data of other users. Then the service was taken off the air.
This does not affect people who have previously applied for and received their certificate. However, the Northern Ireland Department of Health reports that some users cannot log into their account due to the data breach, which allows them to access Irish government services.
