Facebook wants to create ten thousand new jobs in Europe over the next five years. It is the intention that these highly skilled employees will focus on virtual reality and augmented reality, the platform reports in a blog post.
Facebook has started a kind of recruitment campaign to attract the new employees. The company wants to hire people from Cyprus, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Spain, among others.
The platform says the campaign is part of plans to become a “metaverse” company. The metaverse is a kind of alternative version of reality. Through virtual and augmented reality, there is a digital world on top of reality, as it were.
According to Facebook, creating such a new reality is important to”gain access to new creative, social and economic opportunities”.
“With the investments we make in the European market, we are expressing our confidence in the strength of the European tech sector and in the potential that we believe the European tech talent has,” said a Facebook spokesperson.
